DECEMBER 2013 SECOND CHANCE SQUARE DANCE!!

The Second Chance Square Dance returns at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at the Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St. in Downtown Boise's Linen District. $7. All ages, full bar (I.D. required). Plenty of free, off-street parking is available at the Linen Building.

Modeled after the popular Hokum Hoedown and featuring many familiar faces, the Second Chance Square Dance is a modern take on the old-time hootenanny featuring the infectious swing of an authentic acoustic string band. Providing music for the dance will be the Second Chance Band (Dave Daley, Beth Mason, Tate Mason, Jim Williams, Renee Homey, and Rachel Dunn).

At each dance, a live band performs a diverse assortment of traditional folk-dance and string-band tunes while a cast of colorful callers (Ava Honey, Dorothy Shue, Amy Eiden, Ali Ward, and Grace Ward) directs the dances.

In addition to square dancing, the event features some good old-fashioned, swingin', two-steppin' western dancing. Young and old, couples and families, tattooed hipsters and ten-gallon cowboys ... the Second Chance Square Dance is a come-as-you-are, hand-clappin' hootenanny for all.

HOLIDAY HOOTENANNY!

9p - All Ages - $5 at the door

Ten Gallon Cat presents three incredible local groups playing American Music that will get your feet stompin', heart pumpin' and your barn burnin'. Come on down to The Crux on Saturday, December 14th and get down at this Holiday Hootenany!

THE COUNTRY CLUB
The Country Club is a band of veteran musicians from Boise, Idaho playing original and traditional music from the front lines of the nostalgia wars. While their sound is clearly drawn from the well of classic country, honky tonk, old time, and bluegrass, it rings and twangs with modernity and occasional urbanity. From dark and dirty to clean and pristine, the sound of the Country Club is as at home on the range, in a barn, as it is downtown, in the club or a bar.

Jonah Shue, Dave Manion, and a posse of fully deputized rhythmists including Ben Brault, and Bill Parsons do their best to perform a variety of Westernized Musics for entertainment and other purposes.
